The Portal Trust (formerly Sir John Cass’s Foundation) is looking for a part time Communications Officer to help develop and deliver their Communications Strategy. The Communications Officer will join us at an exciting time in our 300-year history: in 2021 we changed our name and have relaunched as The Portal Trust.
The role will involve a range of activities including supporting communications planning, storytelling and research, assisting with channel management, and administrative tasks.
The Portal Trust is one of London's oldest and largest education charities. It supports education for young people in inner London through its grant programmes for individuals, schools and organisations, and its support for a number of institutions to which it has historical ties, including two schools in London of which it is Trustee.
Put simply, we use our resources to help young people overcome disadvantage to achieve great things.
With a passion for storytelling and the technical skill to best use our social media accounts, website and other communications channels, you will play a central role in enabling us to reach more people and tell positive stories.
You may be a recent entrant to the job market with academic or vocational training in Communications, or you may be an experienced Communications professional looking for a new opportunity. Either way, you will be able to demonstrate an understanding of online and printed media, the creativity to spot and develop a good story, and the organisational skills to keep on top of a range of administrative tasks.
Salary: £12,694 - £15,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience (£21,157 - £25,000 Full Time Equivalent)
Location: City of London (Some home working can be considered)
Hours: 21 hours per week (0.6 Full Time Equivalent)
Term: 1 year fixed term contract
