National Youth Theatre was established in 1956 as the first youth theatre in the world, and is today an award-winning youth arts charity that works with over 10,000 young people each year.
Playing Up
We are supporting NYT’s flagship programme Playing Up, which provides free high-quality training in performing arts and academic skills to marginalised and at-risk young people aged 19-24. Playing Up is specifically designed to support young people who are not in education, employment or training and who have left the education system without A-Levels or equivalent. It uses an award-winning model of learning combining sector-specific professional and vocational training with bespoke pastoral care to enhance mental wellbeing.
Our grant is helping to support 26 young people each year from inner London to complete the year-long training course which results in an accredited Level 3 Diploma in Theatre Arts.
